Important Information
What we need to know about you.
After your doctor has scheduled your MRI exam, we will need some important information from you. Prior to your exam, we will contact you to confirm your appointment and ask some questions about your medical history. It is very important that you inform our staff if you have any of the following:
- A cardiac or other pacemaker
- A surgical aneurysm clip
- Any implants such as Cochlear ear, neurostimulator, defibrillator, insulin pump, etc.
- A bone or joint replacement or prosthesis
- Nitroglycerin or other medicated skin patches
- Any metal fragments in your body, including bullets or shrapnel
And be sure to tell us if you answer “yes” to any of the following questions:
- Have you ever worked around, or been exposed to, any kind of metal-working or other machinery that could have caused metal chips or slivers to be lodged in your eyes?
- Are you or could you be pregnant?
- Do you weigh more than 350 pounds?
This information is important! If you have any of the above conditions, or certain other conditions in your medical history, you may not be able to have an MRI exam.
